Donald Llyod Lopez, age 58, surrounded by family in Hays, went with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, after a short and peaceful struggle with cancer. Donald was born June 2, 1961 in Walsenburg, Colo., to Harold and Frances Lopez.
At the age of 21 he began working in the oil field industry, and for the past 27 years was a seismologist for Paragon Geophysical oil exploration. He married his high school sweetheart Debra in 1979, they raised two children together, Jessica and Donald Jr.
Donald enjoyed traveling anywhere the fishing was good and he could camp out. He loved spending time with family, and always put them first, attending all family functions. He was known for his infectious smile, kind and compassionate spirit, and his quick wit was sure to make you laugh. Hee-Haw!
Donald was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Frances Lopez, and his brother Stephen Lee Lopez.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Debra. Children; Jessica( Telly) McCoy, Donald Lopez Jr. His pride and joy grandchildren, Davida, Alyssa, Carlos, Jaxon. Siblings, Harold (Terry) Lopez, Shirley Torres, Cookie (John) Cordova, Beverly (Alex) Roybal, Jeff (Valorie) Lopez, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
At the request of Donald, no services will be held.
