With several partnerships and study abroad programs in China, Fort Hays State University is closely monitoring the current outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus.

In an email distributed last week, FHSU asked all members of the campus community to continue to monitor the situation and said the university is as well.

"The university is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our faculty, staff and students," the statement said.

Although the university hosts students and faculty from China, there are no partner schools in the primary area of the outbreak and school officials believe the risk to FHSU students and faculty to be minimal.

"Current information suggests that the primary risks from the outbreak at this time are likely to be relatively negligible for people outside the province of Hubei in China," the statement said. "Thus, it is important to maintain perspective at this point in the evolution of this potential global health crisis."

The full statement from FHSU and information about the virus can be found on the FHSU Health Alerts Webpage.
