Barbara Lee 'Bobbie' Haverfield

Barbara Lee “Bobbie” Haverfield, 80, died Thursday, January 23, 2020 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born April 29, 1939 in Syracuse, Kansas the daughter of James Ivor & Dora Lee (Smith) Bishop.

Bobbie grew up and attended schools in Leoti, Liberal and Garden City. On March 29, 1958, she married Garett Caney Haverfield in Garden City. They lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado before moving back to Garden City. They then moved to Temple, Texas where they lived for twenty eight years. In 2015, they moved back to Garden City where they have lived since. A homemaker, Bobbie also worked as a bookkeeper and as a babysitter. She enjoyed playing cards, playing marbles, crocheting, and sewing.

Survivors include her husband Garett Haverfield of the home; seven children Brenda Dale & husband Steve of Mulvane, Kansas, James Haverfield & wife Karla of Wichita, Kansas, Kenneth Haverfield & wife Michelle of Wichita, Kansas, Richard Haverfield & wife Cathy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sandra Chappel & husband Greg of Garden City, Kansas, Cari Gill & husband Dave of Round Rock, Texas, and Kelly Strouse & wife Denise of Lake Charles, Louisiana; a brother Doug Bishop of Ulysses, Kansas; two sisters Irma Peitz of Holcomb, Kansas and Virginia Green of Garden City, Kansas; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents; a brother Dick Bishop; a sister Georgia Hall; and a granddaughter Christin Haverfield.

A private family service will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to St. Catherine Hospice in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
