Betty Isaacs Williams of Mount Vernon, Ill., passed away surrounded by family at 10:04 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Countryside Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Piggott, Ark., the daughter of Perry and Ethel (Sanders) Glasco.
She married the love of her life, Olen D. Williams, on Feb. 8, 1946, in Hopkinsville, Ky. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1999, after 53 years of marriage.
Betty was a member of Nason Free Will Baptist Church for 46 years and spent the past nine years at Heritage Woods Assisted Living, where she enjoyed bingo, church services and musical performances. She was an avid Wii bowler on the Heritage Woods bowling team, a masterful April Fool's Day prankster, and a frequent witness to the arrival of the Easter Bunny.
She was at her best when she was helping others and took pride in her fashion flair and home-cooked meals. There was always room at Betty's table at mealtime.
Later in life, she married Carl J. Isaacs. He preceded her in death in 2005.
She is survived by her daughters: Diana and David Higgins, Waltonville, Karen and Gene Fields, Dahinda, Debbie and Harvey Webb, Mount Vernon, and Tammy and Alan Reeker, Mount Vernon, and a special niece, Elaine and Glen Jeffery, Livermore, Calif.
She leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Brent Higgins and Natalie Wayer-Lewis, Mount Vernon, Brandi Higgins, Columbia, Mo., Barry and Tricia Higgins, Waltonville, Ron and Gretchen Fields, Hays, Kan., Amanda Fields and James Austin, Wethersfield, Conn., Jeremy Jones, Mount Vernon, Kelly and John Blythe, Mount Vernon, Jamie Quillman, Mount Vernon, Aaron and Jennifer Reeker, Mount Vernon, Austin and Kari Reeker, Mount Vernon, Avery and Rebecca Reeker, Mount Vernon.
She also leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren: Shelbie Stratton, Ollie and Satchel Higgins, Jack and Ruby Fields, Fiona Austin, Maisey and Mason Jones, Christian, Wesley and Bryson Oathout, Ashtyn Arnold, Drake and Dane Quillman, and Raylan, Roman and McKinley Reeker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Darrell, special niece, Donna Joy, sister, Mary (Harold) Casey, and two brothers Melvin (Chesta) Glasco and Jim (June) Glasco.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Johnston Funeral Home, Ina, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial following services at Abner Cemetery in Nason, Ill.
Memorials may be left to the Cochlear Implant Awareness Foundation in care of the funeral home.
