RUSSELL COUNTY— One person was injured in an accident just after 3p.m. Sunday in Russell County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Honda Accord driven by Trudy L. Haynes, 51, Hutchinson, was westbound in the eastbound lanes on Interstate 70 seven miles west of Russell.
The driver turned the Honda around at an unknown location and was then eastbound in the eastbound lanes.
The Honda ran off the roadway to the right, struck a drainage ditch, went airborne, re-entered the roadway, travelled a short distance, exited the roadway to the right again, traveled through a KDOT fence and came to rest in a creek that feeds into a pond.
EMS transported Haynes to the hospital in Russell. She was properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
