No. 10 Tiger women look to bounce back against Bearcats

The 10th-ranked Fort Hays State women's basketball team looks to rebound from its first loss of 2020 on Saturday when the Tigers take on Northwest Missouri State. First tip from Maryville, Mo. is slated for 1:30 p.m. inside Bearcat Arena.

The Tigers head into the weekend 15-3 overall and 6-3 in MIAA play, while the Bearcats carry a 8-9 mark on the year and a 3-5 record in league action.

Fort Hays State leads in the all-time series, 14-10, with Northwest holding a 7-4 lead in Maryville. The Tigers have won the last two meetings and 10 of the last 11. Tony Hobson is 12-4 against the Bearcats, including a 4-4 mark on the road. Fort Hays State is 43-37 in games played in Missouri under Hobson.

Kacey Kennett averages 11.7 points per game in three meetings with the Bearcats, including 14 points in each of the last two contests. Whitney Randall has averaged 9.5 points in two games against Northwest.

Kennett tallied a season-high 22 points in Thursday's loss to Missouri Western, bringing her season average to a team-high 12.0 points per game. Jaden Hobbs is dishing out 4.6 assists per game, third-most in the MIAA.

Northwest Missouri State is looking to break out of a four-game skid, entering Saturday 8-9 overall and 3-5 in MIAA action. The Bearcats are 4-3 at home this season, including losses in each of their last two home games. They rank 14th in the MIAA in scoring offense, averaging 60.0 points per night. But the defense sits in fourth in the league, allowing just 55.9 points per game. The Bearcats lead the league and rank sixth in Division II in free-throw percentage, knocking down 80.1 percent from the stripe. They rank third in the league in blocked shots, swatting 4.1 attempts each night. Kendey Eaton leads the team with 14.6 points per contest, while Mia Stillman leads the team in both rebounds (4.5 rpg) and steals (1.4 spg). Ellie Horn's 1.2 blocks per night ranks fifth in the MIAA.
