Federico Salas Sr., 57, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
Federico was born Jan. 19, 1963 in Brownville, Texas, the son of Isabel and Amelia (Guerra) Salas, Sr. He was a farmer and had been a Hays resident since 2018 moving from Louisburg, Kan.
Federico was baptized at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Leoti.
Federico’s surviving family includes his three children — Karolyn and Jawwaad Williams of Louisburg, Samara and David Martinez of Hays, Federico and Sandra Salas Jr. of Dallas, seven siblings — John and Rosemary Lopez of Sharon Springs, Ricardo and Berta Lopez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Isabel Salas Jr. of Wichita, Orlando and Anna Salas of Denver, Adriana and Jerry Baber of Lamar, Colo., Jean Salas of Garden City, Irene Salas of Garden City, and 10 grandchildren.
His parents and a brother, Martin Salas preceded him in death.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2020 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Leoti with Father Tim Hickey officiating.
Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti.
Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti.
Memorials may be given to the Federico Salas Sr. memorial fund in care of the funeral home.
