Early evening rain Tuesday turned to slushy snow in Hays early this morning with light rain continuing.
The official report from the K-State Agricultural Research Center was a combined total of 0.56 inch moisture as of 8 a.m. Just 0.04 of that amount was in the form of snow as the overnight low dipped to 15 degrees.
So far in January Hays has received 0.83 inch of moisture, nearly double the average of 0.45 by the end of the month.
The weather forecast is calling for high temperatures in the low 40s through Friday.
