Laura J. Ostrom, 72, Hays, died Sunday, January 19, 2020 at HaysMed.
She was born October 19, 1947 in Hays the daughter of Oliver J. and Mary (Bright) Weber. She graduated from TMP-Marian High School and attended Fort Hays State University. She received her degree in Computer Data Programming from NCK-Tech. On November 17, 1979 she was united in marriage to Stephen F. Ostrom in Hays. She was a switchboard operator for St. Anthony Hospital, a receptionist for Dr. Hagler in Hays, a bookkeeper at John Hessian Nissan in Hays, worked in medical records at St. John’s of Hays, and worked in the kitchen at Hays Good Samaritan. She was a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, the Eagles Lodge, and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Bingo, gambling trips to Topeka, growing lilies, peonies, and hostas, playing cards, and traveling.
Survivors include her husband; Stephen, of the home in Hays, two sons; James Ostrom and Keith Ostrom and wife Jessica, all of Hays, a daughter; Theresia Ostrom and her partner Thomas Adams III of Spavinaw, OK, a brother; Oliver “Butch” Weber, Jr. and wife Phyllis of Summerfield, FL, a sister; Theresia Weber-Stevens and husband Paul of Lawrence, KS, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time.
