Portions of northwest Kansas are in the path of another round of winter weather, according to forecasters.

The National Weather Service in Dodge City issued a hazardous weather outlook, warning of a mix of rain and snow beginning Tuesday and lasting until Wednesday morning.

In Hays and Ellis County, the weather is expected to arrive between 2 and 3 p.m., although no accumulation is expected until early Wednesday morning, when a second round of snow is possible between 3 and 4 a.m. Less than an inch is predicted in the Hays area, with more accumulation to the southeast in the Great Bend and Pratt area.

Winds are expected to pick up throughout the day Tuesday, as well, with south winds of up to 24 mph possible.

The chance of a mix of rain and snow continues until noon Wednesday, with skies gradually clearing by Thursday morning, when the high temperature will return to the mid-40s.

Skies are expected to remain clear through the weekend, and the mercury is expected to rise, bringing a high temperature in the mid-50s by Sunday.
