Marvin Lee Bauman, 86, of Quinter, Kansas, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at the Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care Facility. Marvin was born in Modesto, California on April 14, 1933, to Elmer and Mabel (Brubaker) Bauman.  He was the youngest of five children. He attended Heart Ransom Elementary School and Modesto High School.  Marvin spent a happy childhood in Modesto, riding bicycles, hunting frogs, and swimming in canals. At age 16, Marvin started working for his dad as a carpenter, then for a hay farmer, chopping hay and delivering it to dairy farmers.

Marvin met the love of his life, Morya Boone, when she was visiting friends in Modesto. They were both 16 at that time. They started dating a while later and were united in marriage at Morya’s family home in Quinter on November 22, 1952. They were married for 67 years and were blessed with five children (their firstborn died in childbirth). When Marvin went into CO service, he and Morya moved to Sacramento, California for two years, where Marvin drove a truck, picking up deliveries for Goodwill Industries. Marvin and Morya moved to Quinter in 1955, and Marvin farmed for a couple of years before they moved back to Modesto. In 1963, they made their permanent move back to Quinter. Marvin worked as a Production Manager at Flex-King Corporation for 34 years. He thoroughly enjoyed working with men to produce high-quality Flex-King plows and took pride in his work. Marvin’s happiest times were when he was in the great outdoors, spending time with his family. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and working in his yard, which was always lush and immaculate. He was a very organized man who took meticulous care of his possessions. In dealing with others, he was humble, kind, and fair. He had a good sense of humor and loved sharing funny stories with his family and friends.

Marvin possessed a strong faith and love for God and was baptized on April 21, 1957, becoming a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, to which he held a strong loyalty. Marvin loved reading his Bible, even as his life journey was coming to an end; when his body was feeble, and his eyes were growing dim. He was comforted as family, friends, and Hospital and Long-Term Care staff read to him from God’s word, prayed with him, and talked with him. The family is very appreciative of the love, kindness, and compassion shown to Marvin as he braved his illness with God by his side. He often commented in his quiet voice, “The Lord is giving me strength.”

Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Morya; one brother, Merle Bauman of Modesto, California; three children: Jeff Bauman and wife Deb of Quinter, Jim Bauman and wife Annette of Springboro, Ohio, and Julie (Bauman) Litfin and husband Roy of Quinter; one son-in-law, Rick Albin and wife Carol of Quinter; 16 grandchildren: Abigail (Bauman) Miller, Jesse Bauman, Lindsey (Bauman) Bucher, Judah Bauman, Nathan Albin, Heather (Albin) Jamison, Seth Albin, Hannah (Albin) Lorenz, Joshua Albin, Caleb Albin, Amanda (Bauman) Miller, Jessica (Bauman) Allen, Andrea (Litfin) Wolfe, Jenny (Litfin) Fulton, Holly Litfin, and Chelsea Litfin; 31 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding Marvin in death were his parents, his brother, Eddie, two sisters, Irene and Marian, his son, Craig Bauman, and his daughter, Jana (Bauman) Albin.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 26, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church in Quinter.
