Kenneth 'Ken' John Schaffer

Kenneth “Ken” John Schaffer was born January 1, 1954 in Hoxie, Kansas to William (Bill) and Marie A. (Albers) Schaffer. He passed away January 17, 2020 at University of Colorado Hospital with his family by his side. Ken attended Grade and High School in Hoxie graduating with the class of 1972. After graduation, he attended Garden City Community College graduating in 1974. He worked various jobs but loved his cattle and farming.

Ken married Glenda Plummer on December 3, 1977, and to this union two children were born, Stacey Brown and Travis Schaffer (KayAnn). He also had two step-children, J.R. Behan and Heather Holt. He was blessed with seven grandchildren.

In recent years, Ken took up the sport of golf and enjoyed it very much. He played in Senior Tournaments, couples tournaments and several tournaments with his son, Travis. Ken is Past Exalted Ruler of the Hoxie Elks Lodge #2415 and Past State President of the Kansas Elks Association. He is a member of the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus of Hoxie, Kansas.

Ken is survived by his wife, Glenda of the home, Hoxie, Kansas; son, Travis Schaffer and his wife KayAnn of Hoxie, Kansas; step-son, J.R. Behan; daughter, Stacey Brown of Hoxie, Kansas; step-daughter, Heather Holt of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Allison Holt Nielson, Stacy Holt, Jr., Dalton Brown, Sean Brown, Abbie Brown, Derek Schaffer, and Dallas Schaffer; brother, Will Schaffer and wife Margaret of Hoxie, Kansas; sisters, Kathy Collins of Goodland, Kansas and Karla Olson of Hoxie, Kansas; nieces and nephews and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Hoxie, Kansas. Interment will immediately follow the service in The St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Cemetery. The Past State Presidents of the Kansas Elks Association will present a graveside memorial service. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., with Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M., all at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home in Hoxie, Kansas.
