Virginia K. Karlin

Virginia K. Karlin, 79, passed away Jan. 17, 2020, at Medicalodges of Great Bend. She was born July 11, 1940, in Larned. Virginia married Ronald James Karlin June 7, 1958, at Larned. He died July 30, 2011.

Virginia had been a resident of Great Bend since 1958, coming from Larned, where she was raised by her grandparents, Paul and Ruby Wysong. She was a 25 year employee for Fuller Brush Industries, working in the distribution department, and upon retirement, Virginia was employed as a dispatcher for the Great Bend Senior Center. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and in her more active years, Virginia was a Girl Scout leader and taught CCD. She cherished her time with family, particularly during the holidays and special occasions. Virginia and Ron enjoyed decorating for Christmas, and will be especially remembered for Santa’s lighted helicopter, which adorned their front yard every Christmas season.

Survivors include one son, Doug Karlin and wife Natalie of Colwich; three daughters, Kathy Hayes and husband Jim of Great Bend, Christi Roy and husband Rodney of Hays and Diana Hocker of Bedford, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Jenna Corbett and husband Jason, Eric Hayes and wife Stephanie, Jason Roy, Kellie Roy, Josh Roy, Sarah Hocker, Ryan Hocker, Kayden Karlin, and Austin Karlin; two great grandchildren, Tenleigh Corbett and Sutton Corbett; and brother and sister in-laws, Steve and June Hillman of Great Bend and Don and Lucille Davis of Great Bend. She was preceded in passing by her husband Ron, and by her brother and sister in-law, Arlyn and Donna Linke.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Charles Mazouch presiding. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., at Great Bend Cemetery North. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 19, at Bryant Funeral Home, with an Altar Society Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Memorials have been designated to the Golden Belt Humane Society or Holy Family School Endowment Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
