TMP girls pick up MCL tournament win over Stockton

STOCKTON - The TMP Lady Monarchs used a 10-0 first half run to rally from down five and beat the Stockton Lady Tigers Saturday 60-41 to advance to the first round of the Mid-Continent League tournament.

TMP scored seven straight to open the game before Stockton closed the first quarter on a 9-7 run.

Stockton added a three to open the second quarter and lead by five twice in the early portion of the second quarter. Down 16-11 the Monarchs scored the final 10 points of the first half and led 21-16 at the break.

The extended the run into the second half, scoring the first six points of the half and led 27-19 early in the third quarter.

Stockton was able to close the deficit to eight at the end of the third quarter, at 38-30. But TMP outscored Stockton 13-5 to open the fourth quarter and closed the quarter on a 9-2 run on their way to the 60-41 win.

Game highlights

TMP's Megan Hamel led three in double-figures with a new career-high 21. Kassidi Yost also finished with a career-high 12 and Emilee Lane finished with 10.

Shae Griffin led Stockton with 15 points.

The Monarchs improve to 4-5 on the season and will travel to WaKeeney on Monday for the first round of the MCL tournament. 

Stockton drops to 4-6 and will play the first of two consolation round robin games Thursday against Hill City.
