HAYS, Kan. – The 13th-ranked Fort Hays State women shot 59-percent from the floor including 11-of-20 from beyond the arc and cruised to an 87-55 rout of No. 15 Emporia State Wednesday evening in front of 2,305 at Gross Coliseum.
It’s the largest margin of victory for the Tigers (14-2, 5-2 MIAA) over an Emporia State team as they run their win streak to eight straight and five straight in conference play. It also snapped the Hornets (12-3, 5-1 MIAA) nine-game win streak.
The Tigers worst shooting quarter was the first when they went 8-for-16 and led by seven. The Hornets were within five when freshman Allison McFarren scored the final eight points of a 15-3 run to close out the second quarter which pushed their lead to 17.
McFarren finished 5-of-6 from the floor and went 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and scored a career-best 15. Kacey Kennett led six Tigers in double-figures with 16. Taylor Rolfs added 12 while Belle Barbieri and Jaden Hobbs both added 10.
The Tiger defense held ESU to 30-percent shooting and a season low in points.
Colorado State transfer Mollie Mounsey hit seven 3-pointers and led the Hornets with a season-high 23 points.
