The National Weather Service in Dodge City is calling for a chance of snow beginning Thursday afternoon and potentially affecting portions of northwest Kansas.
Although only between a tenth and a quarter of an inch of snow is predicted for Hays and Ellis County, the NWS also is warning of potential ice as the weather is expected to bringing a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain to some areas.
There is a 30 percent chance of snow Thursday afternoon, increasing to 80 percent Thursday night.
The potential for snow is expected to pass by early morning Friday.
