Luella Marie (Richmeier) Kinderknecht

Luella M. Kinderknecht, 86, of Hoxie, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020. She was born in St. Peter, on December 24, 1933, to Joe A. and Elizabeth M. (Dinkel) Richmeier. She married Virgil A. Kinderknecht, on November 9, 1954 in, St. Peter, Kansas. He passed away June 21, 2001.

Luella grew up on a farm near St. Peter. She attended school in St. Peter and graduated from 8th grade. After 8th grade graduation, she immediately went to work helping families with their children. For a short while before she met Virgil, Luella worked in Hays at the Hospital. After they were married, they moved to a farm north of Park where they lived until 1995 when they moved to Hoxie, Kansas. She kept the house in order and raised the children while Virgil went to work on the railroad.

Luella was a wonderful cook. She was well known for her chicken and noodles, barbecued meatballs, fried chicken, homemade rolls, and her specialty, galuskies. She grew a large garden until the past few years. After her husband Virgil died, her children and grandchildren made sure she had the best care possible. Her grandchildren made sure her lawn was mowed, and her grandson, Aaron, always spent the evening helping decorate her house for Christmas. Luella enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities. She dearly loved her children and all her grand and great-grandchildren. They made her world a brighter place to live.

Survivors include her children, Marilyn Arnold (David, of Hoxie, Leon Kinderknecht (Tracy, of Wamego, Loretta Karnes (Roy, of Grainfield, Glenda Heier (Richard, of Hoxie, Randy Kinderknecht, Galen Kinderknecht, both of Park, Sheila Heim (Steve) and Eric Kinderknecht (Debbie, all of Hoxie, grandchildren, Jeremy Arnold, Mary Glick (Darin, Levi Kinderknecht (Tiffany, Mark Karnes, Travis Arnold, Ryan Kinderknecht, Kala Harvey (Jonathan, Jadrien Carson (Jeff Pfeifer, Kara Scott (Bronson, Alex Kinderknecht (Kristen Redding) Aaron Heim, Corey Heier, Becki Sporing (Raven, Chris Heim (Taylor, Cody Kinderknecht, Mariah Kinderknecht (Ryan Kabriel, Colin Heim and Erica Kinderknecht; great-grandchildren, Caden, Kristin, Eli, Shawn, Brinley Keaton, Kyler, Sebastian, Blaten, Taelynn, Jayden, Braysen, Gavin, Blaze, Keira, Bella, Eislee, Teagan, Gordon, Savannah and McKinley; great-great granddaughter, Makiyah; siblings, Blanche Zerr, Edwin (Agnes) Richmeier, Eileen Bellairs, Carmella Jones, Clarita Kollhoff, and Larry Richmeier (Jackie).

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Virgil, son, Michael Kinderknecht, infant daughter Mary Ann, grandson Brett Arnold.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020, 10:00 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, Kansas. Burial will follow the service in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Park. Visitation will be held Friday, January 17, 2020 from 1:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with a Vigil Service and rosary starting at 7:00 P.M. all at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie, Kansas. Luella was a kind and loving person. Her husband, children, grand and great-grandchildren were so precious to her. Death leaves heartache but love leaves a memory no one can steal. Luella’s memory will live on because of the memories that have been made by all her love.
