Janet M. (Karnes) Shaw

Janet Marie Shaw was born April 18, 1958, in Hoxie, Kansas, to George and Margaret (Brant) Karnes. She died January 12, 2020, at Great Plains Medical Center in North Platte, Nebraska.

Janet graduated from Hoxie High School in 1976 and attended Fort Hays State University, graduating with a degree in home economics, and taught one year at Triplains High School in Winona, Kansas. Janet married Scott Shaw on May 30, 1981, in Selden, Kansas. Janet was a caring mother, farm wife, and woman of faith, serving on church committees, singing for funerals, and teaching children about Jesus.

She is survived by husband Scott Shaw of Hoxie; daughters Andrea and husband Chris Graham of Stockton and Laura and husband Tucker Sexson of Weskan, and grandchildren Jonathan, Olivia, and Charlotte Graham and Kaiden, Brynlee, and Brooks Sexson; sister Joyce Mills and husband Greg of Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and father- and mother-in-law Floyd and Carol Shaw.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2020 at Christ Community Church in Hoxie, Kansas, with burial at Bow Creek Cemetery in rural Sheridan County. Visitation will be Thursday, January 16, at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 with the family present. Family request no flowers.
