Hot shooting lifts #13 FHSU women past Northeastern State

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Taylor Rolfs hit three 3-pointers to spark a 17-4 third quarter run after the Fort Hays State fell behind by one and the 13th-ranked defeat a gritty Northeastern State team 77-66 Thursday night at the NSU Event Center.

Fort Hays State(12-2, 3-2 MIAA) shot 69-percent in the second half including seven of nine from the floor in the fourth quarter and pick up their sixth straight win overall, their third straight in conference play and 13th straight over the RiverHawks (4-9, 2-4 MIAA).

The Tigers led by five after the first quarter and used an 11-2 run to go up 12 in the second but NSU answered with a 13-2 run to pull within one late in the half.

Northeastern took the lead early in the third before Rolfs took over hitting threes in three of their next four possessions.

Belle Barbiere went 7-for-8 from the floor and hit all four of her free throws and led the Tigers with 18 points and eight rebounds. Jaden Hobbs went 8-for-8 from the foul line and scored 17 points and had six assists. Rolfs went 4-for-5 from beyond the arc and scored 16 while dishing out five assists.
