
Forecasters are calling for an inch of snow in Hays and Ellis County, with the precipitation beginning Friday afternoon.
The snowfall could be more significant to the west, with the National Weather Service in Dodge City calling for up to 3 inches of snow in Trego County.
Snow will begin in the early morning hours Friday in far northwest Kansas, said the NWS in Goodland, with up to 3 inches of snow accumulating in some areas.
High wind could lead to hazardous travel conditions, as well, as the NWS is predicting wind gusts of up to 40 mph Friday.
For those planning on traveling farther east, the Topeka-Kansas City area could receive between 3 and 5 inches of snowfall Friday and Saturday, the NWS at Topeka reported.
