John 'Jack' Budig

John “Jack” L. Budig, age 71 of Hill City, Kansas passed away on January 4, 2020 in Hill City. He was born to Arthur and Viola (Dreiling) Budig on August 11, 1948 in Hays, Kansas. Jack grew up in Plainville where he graduated from Plainville High School with the class of 1966. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and faithfully served for four years. Following his honorable discharge, he lived in Plainville where he worked in the oilfields, was a mechanic, and a truck driver.

Jack enjoyed the outdoors, playing pool, fishing for catfish, riding his motorcycle, and above all, his grandkids. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is survived by his sons, Nickolaus Budig and significant other Joni Otter-Shellito of Hill City and Nathan (Misti) Budig of Wakeeney, KS; brothers, Vernon Budig of Canton, OK, David (Patty) Budig of Lewis, KS, Doug Budig and significant other Deb Meyers of Russell, KS, and Robert (Lori) Budig of Piedmont, OK; sister, Kathy (Jason) Harrison of Woodward, OK; and five grandchildren, Lexi, Rayleigh and Johanna Shellito and Dylan and Ryan Budig.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Viola Budig; and siblings, Arthur Budig, Sharon Arnhold, Janice Budig, Nicholas Budig, and Eleanor Budig.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Plainville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Vigil and Rosary at 7:00 PM at the funeral home in Plainville.
