Stanley Edwin Sanders

Stanley Edwin Sanders was born May 10, 1927, to Carl and Mattie Sanders. Stanley had one brother, Sidney Sanders. He lived and worked on the family homestead outside of Harper, Kansas until he joined the Army Air force in 1945 and served in the Philippines. Stan married Jeannine Nelson in 1948 and they had 4 children together: Curtis, Stuart, Susan and Julie.

Stan got his Bachelor's degree in Education and taught high school and coached for several years before selling pianos and organs for Nelson Music Co in Hutchinson, KS. Stan moved to Colby, KS in 1987 and worked in sales for his son-in–law at Roofmaster’s Roofing Co. In 2016, Stan moved to Prairie Senior Living Center where he enjoyed making everyone laugh. He died of natural causes on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mattie Sanders; wife Joan Sanders; brother Sid Sanders; sister-in-law Beverly; son Stuart Sanders; step-son Stephen Moore, and step-daughter Sondra Moore.

He is survived by his children, Curt Sanders and wife Diane, of Hutchinson, KS, Susan Haines and husband Fred, of Colby, KS and Julie Ross and husband Robb, of Colby, KS; grandchildren, Luke Haines and wife, Julisa, of Hays, KS, Jake Haines and wife Ashlee, of Colby, KS, Alex Haines and wife Amber, of Hays, KS, Jennie Reichert and husband, Eric, of Kansas City, Jillian Miller and husband Kevin, of Wichita, KS, Riley Ross and wife Mindy, of Columbus, OH, Katie Schoenhoff and husband Mason, of Halstead, KS , and Kari Wilkie and husband Dennis, of Omaha, NE; great grandkids, Brianna Wissman, Madi Wiesner, Freddy Haines, Lewie, Mac, Levi and Morgan Haines, Camden and Payson Haines, Grant, Ella, Anna, Griffin and Augustus Miller, Addison, Georgia and Cole Reichert, Reagan, Ryder, Rachel and Roby Ross, Kelsie, Madison, Cassidy, Boston, and Sterling Wilkie, Josslyn Schoenhoff; great-great grandchildren, Welker, Riggins and Baron Wissman; nephews, nieces, cousins and friends, too numerous to name.

Memorial Service is 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the College Drive Assembly of God, Colby, KS, with inurnment in Beulah Cemetery.
