Great Bend man hospitalized after 2-vehicle crash

BARTON COUNTY — One person was injured in an accident just after 8:30a.m. Monday in Barton County.

The Kansas Highway patrol reported a 1999 Lincoln Town Car driven by Leonard L. Boese, 44, Great Bend, was northbound on U.S. 281 six miles north of Kansas 156.

The Lincoln traveled off onto the right shoulder. The driver lost control, skidded back onto the highway, drove left of center and struck  a southbound 2004 Buick Le Sabre driven by Donald E. Witte, 81, Great Bend. Both vehicles came to rest in the west ditch.

EMS transported Witte to the hospital in Great Bend. Boese refused transport for treatment. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
