Substantial rainfall fell in Hays overnight Friday along with a trace of snow on Saturday plus 1-inch of snow on Sunday.
According to the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town, Hays received 1.94 inches of rain Friday.
So far in December the moisture total is 2.16 inches, well above the average for the month of 0.72 inches.
The moisture total so far in 2019 for Hays is 31.02 inches, almost eight inches above the annual average of 23.26 inches.
The record precipitation for Hays is 47.34 inches, which occurred in 1951, a year of heavy flooding.
In 2018, Hays had its third-highest precipitation year with 37.55 inches of precipitation. Low-lying areas of the city were also flooded that year during a July storm.
No precipitation is in the forecast for today or Tuesday. The forecast for today is sunny and windy with a high near 37. Tuesday's forecast is sunny with a high near 43.
