2 hospitalized after car strike's U-Haul trailer on I-70

SHERMAN COUNTY — Two people were injured in an accident just before 2p.m. Sunday in Sherman County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Jeep utility vehicle pulling a U-Haul trailer and driven by Susa,Derek E. Susa, 44, Colorado Springs, Co., was westbound on  Interstate 70 one mile west of the Brewster Exit.

The driver lost control and entered the median. The Jeep spun around in the median and entered the eastbound passing lane of Interstate 70.

An eastbound 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Brandon M. White, Gardner, struck the trailer. Both vehicles came to rest in the median.

EMS transported White and a passenger in the Mercury  Hannah R. Templeton, 21, Gardner, to Goodland Regional Medical Center.

Susa was not injured.  There were two passengers in the Mercury from St. Joseph, Missouri. EMS treated 19-year-old Emily O. Ptomey at the scene. Nikki D. Nelson, 42, was not injured.
