FORD COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 6p.m. Thursday in Ford County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Ford passenger car driven by Melvin W. Brake, 84, Kinsley, was traveling on U.S. 50 at 118 Road.

The vehicle rear-ended a 2006 Toyota passenger vehicle driven by Brock W. Helfrich, 28, Wright, who was stopped waiting to make a left turn.

The collision caused the Ford to spin into oncoming traffic striking the trailer of a 2015 Freightliner semi driven by David A. Pace, 65, El Dorado.

EMS transported Brake to the hospital in Dodge City. Helfrich and Pace were not injured. Brake was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
