Myrtle 'Myrt'” Jane Rohr

Myrtle “Myrt” Jane Rohr, 79, Quinter, died Sunday, December 15, 2019 in DeSoto, Kansas, surrounded by her family.  She was born December 1, 1940, in Scott County, Kansas, the daughter of Clive and Nellie (Scott) Sharpe.

Myrt grew up in Scott City, Kansas and graduated from Scott City High School, 1958. On September 20, 1960 she was united in marriage to Franklin M. Rohr, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Park, Kansas.

Survivors include her husband, son Frankie (Franklin G.) & wife Joyce, of Quinter; son Darren & wife Roseann of DeSoto; grandchildren Chelsea, Cameron, Cole, & Laramie.

Myrt is also survived by five brothers, Clive, Harley, Harry, Hiriam of Scott City, Kansas, and John of Loveland, Colorado; two sisters, Thada Holt, Hurricane, Utah and Helen Ackley, Hutchinson, Kansas. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Vivian Sharp and Trilla Hayes; and her beloved son Kevin Rohr. She is loved and missed by her family, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Myrt was a farm girl all her life, growing up with ten siblings on a farm one mile west of Scott City, then farming with her husband and sons in Gove County.  Myrt was an avid reader. She had a huge talent for cooking and sewing. She made her own wedding dress and well as her daughter-in-law’s wedding dresses and christening gowns for her grandchildren. She made many quilts for her family. She was a huge fan of her grandchildren supporting them in all their activities, football games, high school plays, music recitals, and soccer games.  She was honored to be asked to be a judge for local highschool debate tournaments.  She loved all children, and the laughter of small children always made her smile.

There will be a church service at the United Methodist Church, Scott City, Kansas, on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
