Maxine Mira York Wilson

Maxine Mira York Wilson, 97, died on Saturday December 14, 2019 at Hays Medical Center in Hays.

She was born on May 29, 1922 at her Grandparents home north of Shields the first of three children of Henry Herman & Alberta Olive (Brown) York. She attended Fairview Public School #38 in Gove County north of Healy and then lived with her Grandparents Ford Albert & Winnie Olive (Maxwell) Brown in Healy to attend high school and graduated with the Healy High School Class of 1940.

She married Harold Archie Kenoyer on November 29, 1942 and this union was blessed with three children- Robert, Frances and Nancy. Archie died on July 22, 1950. She later married Shelby W. Wilson on November 14, 1972. They lived on the farm north of Healy. They had a small band called the Lane County Dusters and played for many dances and other occasions. Maxine loved playing the piano even thou she could not read a note of music, only playing by ear. Shelby died on April 10, 2005. At that time she moved to Dighton where she stayed the rest of her life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Healy, Past member of Healy Rural School Board and Healy Coop.

She is survived by her 3 children- Robert F. (Pat) Kenoyer of Dighton, Frances Louise Ross of Ellis and Nancy Lee (Keith Dickey) Ratzlaff of Healy, Step-Son- Steve (Suzan) Wilson, Step-Daughter- Debi Ascarte, 7 Grandchildren- Harold (Eileen) Anderson of Hays, Greg (Chelle) Anderson of Dighton, Bruce Schaben of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Doug (Shelley) Schaben of Ness City, Stephanie (Darren) Leonard of Garden City, Stacy (Damien) Ramirez of Ogden, Utah & Julie Clouse, 10 Great-Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great-Grandchildren, Brother- Dwight (Mary) York of Oakley, Step-Brother- Rex (Margaret) Wilson of Marion, Step-Sister- Amy Willis of Warsaw, Missouri, Sister-In-Law- Pam Jennison of Healy. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Both Husbands, Great-Grandson- Joshua LaRock, Brother- Henry Forrest York, 2 Step-Brothers- Dean Wilson & Keith Wilson and 2 Step-Sisters- Delia Speer & Janie Johnston.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Friday at United Methodist Church in Healy with Rev Bud Tuxhorn officiating. Burial will be in Healy Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church of Healy or J.O.Y. Center in care of Boomhower Funeral Home. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 PM Thursday at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton.
