Clara Fern (Wilson) Hawks, age 95, of Goodland passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Topside Manor in Goodland. 


Fern was born January 19, 1924 to Roy Elmer and Nellie Olive (Bernard) Wilson in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma. She grew up and attended school in Cheyenne County, Kansas. On August 31, 1941, Fern married Cloyd Donald Hawks in St. Francis, Kansas. 

For many years Fern worked as a cook at the Goodland schools and the Northwest Kansas Technical College, she retired in 1985. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, GRMC Hospital Auxiliary, American Red Cross and volunteered at their blood drives, Ruleton Square Dance Club and spent many years as a 4-H Leader.  


Fern enjoyed playing cards and games of any sort, she was a big fan of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies, high school sports, she especially enjoyed watching her son’s wrestling matches and basketball games and spending time with her family and friends.   


Preceding her in death are her grandparents and parents; husband, Cloyd; daughter, Clara Evelyn; son, Dale; sisters, Frances, Vivian, Edna Mae; brothers, Oren, Gilford, Roy Jr. and Ralph; and one great grandson, Brandon. 


She is survived by her son, Dallas (Donna) of Rydal, GA; son, Vincent (Janee) of Rockwall, TX; daughter, Meredith (Kenny) Farr of Leoti, KS; daughter, Karen (Danny) Amos of Nixa, MO; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Hawks of Goodland; sisters, Esther Elliott of Edson and Eleanor “Norie” Elliott of Edson; eighteen grandchildren and forty-two great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
