Alcide 'Sid' Balthazor

Alcide “Sid” Balthazor, 93, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019. He was born Nov. 28, 1925, in Palco, Kan., to Jeremaniah and Rose (Roberts) Balthazor. He was a veteran of the Korean War.


Sid married Janet Roberta Brin on May 28, 1952. She passed away April 17, 2012.

He was a teacher, farmer, builder and business owner. There was no job too small or too large for him to tackle. If his family, friends or church asked for help he never said no. He served in active duty in Korea, returning home to finish his education specialist degree at Ft. Hays State University. He was a devout Catholic and devoted family man.

Sid is survived by his children, Roxie Miller, of Mesa, Ariz., and Melanie Britegam, John Balthazor and Tracy Balthazor (Sheryl, all of Salina; brother, Keith Balthazor (Jane, of Salina; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.


Visitation will be 4-6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Rosary service will begin at 6:30 p.m.


Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Father Fred Gatschet as celebrant, and Mark Roberti as Deacon and homilist. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon following at the church provided by the Ladies' Guild.
