Richard V. Verhage, 84, of Beloit,KS (formerly of rural Cawker City (Dispatch, KS, died Friday, November 15, at the Mitchell County Hospital, in Beloit, KS. Richard was born on February 2, 1935 to Martin J. and Marcia L. (Lessenden) Verhage in Jewell County, KS.
Richard went through 12th grade in school. He retired as a Road Grader Operator in Jewell County.
Richard married Edna Marie and to this union 4 children were born. After Edna passed away, Richard married Marsha (Lynn).
Richard loved to cut wood. He also had an interest in horses & loved to mow. Richard mowed the Dispatch Christian Reformed Cemetery and kept it looking nice.
Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Verhage in 2010.
Richard is survived by his wife: Marsha (Lynn) Verhage of the home; 2 daughters: Matilda (Shawn) Stauffer of Salina, KS; Zoeann (Kevin) Patrick of Marquette, KS; 2 sons: Scott (Anh Vo) Verhage of Windom, MN; Kevin (Stormy) Verhage of Kensington, KS; 2 sisters: Lucille Webber of Hutchinson, KS; Maryann Henderson of Talala, OK; 4 brothers: Carol Verhage of Geneva, NE; Wendell Verhage of Hastings, NE; John Verhage of Oklahoma City, OK; Lloyd Verhage of Manhattan, KS; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
