Forecasters are warning of the possibility of light rain switching to snow overnight and into Friday morning.
The chance of precipitation in the Hays area is 40 percent, according to the Dodge City National Weather Service. Area of extreme southwest Kansas could receive as much as 2 inches of snow, but lesser amounts are expected locally.
Potential rain is expected to turn to snow between 7 and 10 p.m. Thursday, with the 40 percent chance of snow continuing until 10 a.m. Friday.
Skies will clear Saturday through Monday, with highs near 60 degrees. A chance of rain or snow returns Tuesday, as forecasters are predicting a winter storm moving into western Kansas.
