At about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, emergency responders were dispatched to reports of a structure fire in the Countryside Estates mobile home park, 1010 Reservation Rd.
The Hays Fire Department found a home actively burning and worked to extinguish the fire for over an hour with two water lines, while removing windows and cutting an access hole into the building.
Ellis County Fire and EMS, along with the Hays Police Department, assisted at the scene.
The home was a complete loss according to Ryan Hagans, HFD Chief.
He said the cause is currently unknown and the state fire marshal is investigating.
The fire was the second structure fire reported in Hays on Tuesday.
Shortly before 7 a.m. in the 200 block of West Seventh, the department was dispatched to a fire in a kitchen.
The fire started on the stove, with damage limited to the kitchen, Hagans said.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
