Letha Beatrice Horton

Letha Beatrice Horton, known to most as “Lee” passed away November 16, 2019 at The Baptist Home at the age of 96 years. She was born December 6, 1922 in Tulia, Texas the daughter of the late David and Josephine (Payne) Wadlington.


Lee is survived by two daughters; Cherry Bell and husband, Ron of Colby, Kansas, and Jill Timken and husband, Robert of St. Louis, Missouri and a daughter-in-law; Roslyn Hicks-Foster of Texas. Also surviving are six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Lee was preceded in death by her first husband, Jay C. Hicks (1939-1960) and her second husband, Otto Horton (1961-1996, her son Larry Jay Hicks (1942-1986) and a grandson, Jon Michael Timken (1967-1984). She was also preceded in death by four brothers; Albert, Arch, Virgil and Arlie Wadlington and three sisters; Verma Johnston, Myrtle Lois Wadlington, and Willie Roberts.


Lee was active in the Pleasant Home Church during the years her family was growing up. She was a 4-H leader, a youth group leader at church as well as a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Buffalo, Missouri before coming to live at The Baptist Home in 2006.
