Gudrun Lisa McClure

Longtime Goodland resident Gudrun Lisa McClure, 81, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Goodland on Saturday, November 16, 2019.


She was born on December 10, 1937 in Butzbach, Germany, the daughter of Anton and Maria Schlecht. She was educated and graduated from school in Germany. In her younger years she posed as a professional model in Germany. 


Gudrun married her husband Robert (Bob) Lee McClure in Germany while he served in the Army. The couple’s first son Morgan was born in Germany. After Robert’s service in Germany the family returned to the United States. At Fort Bragg, North Carolina their second son Martin was born. In 1967 Robert brought his family back to live in Goodland, Kansas. Three more children, Carol, Monte, and Cindy, were raised in Goodland. As Robert worked in the family plumbing business Gudrun and Robert raised a blended family that included Kornelia and Mark. Gudrun kept a busy pace passionately caring for her family in all of life’s moments. In addition to her family life, Gudrun took on work as a caregiver both privately and at the Good Samaritan Center. 


Preceding her in death were her parents, siblings, her husband Robert (Bob) McClure, and one son Martin James McClure.


Surviving family includes her daughter Kornelia G. Schields (Gary, son Mark T. Koenig, son Morgan L. McClure (Dawn Carr, daughter Carol L. McClure (Allen Schutte, daughter Cynthia A. Palmquist (Jim, and son Monte J. McClure. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Matt Schields, Brett Schields, Joshua Koenig, Race McClure, Lake McClure, Celeste Palmquist, Claire Palmquist and Ethan Palmquist; as well as two great grandchildren Weston and Gianna Schields.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 10:30 AM MT at the United Methodist Church in Goodland with Pastor Zach Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, KS. Lunch will be served for family and friends. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM MT at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland.


Memorials may be designated to the Gudrun L. McClure Memorial Fund and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
