KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Emily Hutchings and Mackenzie Caldwell of Fort Hays State Women's Soccer were two of the three student-athletes receiving MIAA Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday. Hutchings was named the Defender of the Week, while Caldwell was named Goalkeeper of the Week. They joined Hannah Anderson (Offensive Player of the Week) of Northeastern State as the weekly honorees from the conference office.

Hutchings played all 180 minutes for the week and notched an assist in the 2-0 win at Southwestern Oklahoma State. Her long pass forward led to Taylor Hill scoring a goal in a one-on-one situation against the keeper, pushing the Tigers into the lead. Hutchings helped the Tigers pick up a pair of clean sheets on the road and move to 3-1-2 overall on the season.

Caldwell recorded a pair of clean sheets in goal. She played all 180 minutes for the Tigers and recorded 13 saves for the week. Caldwell had a season-high nine saves in the win over SWOSU and then four in the win over Northwestern Oklahoma State. She also recorded an assist in the 2-0 win at SWOSU as she launched a ball to the other end of the field and Laila Cook put a good strike on the long pass for a goal.
