RUSSELL — At approximately 2:01 a.m., Saturday, November 7, Russell County EMS and the Russell Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of 5th Street and Copeland Street for a male subject who was struck by a vehicle. A Russell County Sheriff’s deputy also responded.

While units were enroute to the call, additional information was received that a female was also struck by the vehicle.

The two pedestrians were transported from the scene by EMS to Russell Regional Hospital. One of the patients was later transferred by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Through the investigation into the crash, the suspect vehicle was located in the 1400 block of N. Kansas Street and was subsequently seized as evidence.

During the investigation officers developed probable cause that Seth Morse, age 35, of Russell, was the driver of truck that struck the two pedestrians and left the scene. Morse was arrested and booked into the Russell County Jail on the charges of Aggravated Battery x2, Duty of Driver to Report Injury Crash x2, and Reckless Driving.

This case will be forwarded to the Russell County Attorney for formal charges. Morse is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The incident remains under investigation.
