The Hays USD 489 school board will further discuss the future of 7.3 acres of land north of Felten Elementary School (the former Hays Middle School) during a work session at 6:30 tonight at the Rockwell Administration Center.

On March 9, the school board rejected all bids for the property because they were well below the $630,000 appraised value.

The land is zoned residential.

The school board will also discuss summer projects and the renovation of Wilson Elementary School.

Wilson is set to close as an elementary school at the end of the school year.

Wilson's students will move into the renovated Felten Elementary School.

The renovation is one of the last projects in a series of bond-funded construction work. The district planned to vacate the Rockwell Administration building and move the administrative offices to the former Wilson school.

The board will also discuss revisions to the language of the administrator and director contracts.
