HAYS, Kan. - Fort Hays State played to a 1-1 draw with Rogers State on Sunday. Both teams scored in the first half and neither were able to find a game winner in the second half. FHSU moved to 8-0-6, 3-0-4 MIAA and RSU to 4-4-6, 1-2-4 MIAA.
The Hillcats struck first as a set piece play allowed Ashton Shepperson to cross the ball into the box where Andrea Egerer scored on a well-placed header in the ninth minute. FHSU answered in the 30th minute with a header as well on a corner kick from Sullivan Kelly that found Reilly Madden tight to the back post. It was the first career goal of the defensive specialist's career at FHSU. The Tigers went on to settle for their third straight draw, but still remain unbeaten on the season.
The Tigers outshot the Hillcats 10-8 in the match and had one more shot on goal, 4-3. Isabel Robben collected two saves, while Tiffany Brittan picked up three for the Hillcats.
The Tigers remain at home next week hosting Missouri Southern on Friday (Oct. 14) and then third-ranked Central Missouri on Sunday (Oct. 16). The Tigers sit third in the conference points standings with 13, tied with Central Oklahoma and Washburn.
