TOPEKA —  Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) plans to begin resurfacing a portion of U.S. 24 in Osborne County the week of Oct. 12.

Project work involves an asphalt overlay on nearly 15 miles of the highway, starting at the south U.S. 281 junction in Osborne and extending north and east to the Mitchell County line.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane in areas where crews are actively working and directed by flaggers and a pilot car. Delays of up to 15 minutes are possible.

KDOT expects the work to be completed in November, conditions permitting.

Bettis Asphalt & Construction, of Topeka, is the primary contractor for the $2.5 million project.
