Emery Carl Jennings, 72, Hays, Kansas passed away on December 9, 2021, in Hays.

Emery was born in Colby, Kansas, to Newton and Dixie (Windmill) Jennings on March 25, 1949.  He graduated high school from Oakley, Kansas.  On December 21, 2003, he married Diana Munsch in South Lake Tahoe.  Emery worked in the real estate market for much of his life across the states of Kansas, Colorado, California, and Nevada.  Most recently, he was working as a real estate broker in the states of Colorado and Kansas.

Throughout his life, Emery took the time to surround himself with family. Whether it was sports events, birthdays, special occasions, or the holidays, he found the time to be present.  Emery never encountered a stranger – he had a comfort with striking up conversations with anyone willing to engage. He took the time to learn where the person was from, their interests, and family lineage. On occasion, he would use these engagements to rib someone about a sports team by opening up with “where did you get that sports shirt, a yard sale?” then found a way to stick a friendly landing. Perhaps one of his greatest qualities was his ability to never take himself too seriously. This provided others an open opportunity to rib Emery as well, leading to countless bouts of laughter, often to a level of shedding tears…these moments will most certainly be missed.

Emery is survived by his wife Diana Jennings, his children and spouses: Thonda “TJ” Jennings-Corcoran and Mike Corcoran, Ty and Heather Jennings, Joey and Jason Vap, James and Robin Jennings, his grandchildren: Janessa and Jordan Jennings, Kaitlyn and Jayden Vap, and Regan and Ryann Jennings, and his step children and spouses: Kyle and Nikki Herrman and Kendra and Desmond Stewart.

He was preceded in death by his parents Newt and Dixie Jennings and his siblings: Newt, Newell, and JC Jennings and Ellen Lou Rudell.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with a vigil service and rosary will be at 6:00 pm.  A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s Chapel at Via Christi Village.  Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Ness City.
