Kansas man hospitalized after violent pickup crash

SMITH COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 9p.m. Friday in Smith County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1994 Ford Ranger driven by Robert D. Hoffert, 32, Mankato, was westbound on 140th Road approximately three miles west of U.S. 281

The pickup entered the south ditch, traveled off the south side of the bridge, overturned in midair and struck the west side bank, coming to rest on its roof.

EMS transported Hoffert to the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
