Florence Peggy (Winget) Brungardt, 89, Ellis, died Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society in Ellis.
She was born August 27, 1935 in Stamps, Arkansas, the daughter of Jesse and Maddie (Miller) Winget. Peggy graduated from Magnolia High School in Magnolia, Arkansas in 1954. She was united in marriage to Robert Francis Brungardt on January 19, 1956 in Texarkana, Arkansas and they celebrated 38 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 8, 1994. Peggy was a homemaker and greatly enjoyed babysitting and playing with her grandchildren and baking the best chocolate chip cookies. After living in many different cities in Kansas with her family, she retired in the community of Russell.
Survivors include two sons, Dan Brungardt and wife Beverly of Clinton, MO and Michael Brungardt of Oakland, CA, two daughters, Patty Meagher and husband Tom of Hays and Linda Saucedo and husband Jesse of Edwardsville, 13 grandchildren, Ben Brungardt, Angie Meagher, Bill Meagher and wife Mandy, Jennie Meagher, Matt Meagher and wife Jessica, Melissa Wasinger and husband Drew, Matt Brungardt and wife Lindsey, Amara Saucedo, Tyler Saucedo, Nathan Brungardt, Becky Fox and husband Anthony, Caleb Brungardt, and Karly Brungardt, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, a son, David Brungardt, four brothers, Obie Dee, James, Gerrell, and Clell Winget, three sisters, Lois Dillard, Ruby Flanagan, and Opal Winget.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, October 25, 2024 at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, with Fr. Damian Richards officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gorham. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Thursday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Friday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A vigil service and rosary will be at 6:30 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Grade School in Ellis.
