RUSSELL — The Russell Community Impact Award Committee is pleased to announce Raina Tomlinson as the distinguished recipient of the December 2024 Russell Community Impact Award.

This award recognizes individuals, businesses, or organizations whose exceptional contributions have significantly enriched the fabric of the Russell community.

Raina’s numerous nominations describe her as a passionate local leader whose dedication and innovative spirit have a tremendous positive impact on local youth. As a JAG-K Specialist at Russell High School, she works to instill a passion and drive in local youth to become leaders within our community and beyond. She has inspired local business owners to recognize and invest in our local youth through career development opportunities, such as those offered through her partnership with the Ogallala Commons Community Internship Program.

Outside of her work with local youth at Russell High School, Raina also volunteers her time in support of Community for Classrooms. She also continues her support of local youth at home as a foster parent. Her unwavering dedication to the future generation of Russell embodies the spirit of the Russell Community Impact Award.

As the winner of the Russell Community Impact Award, Raina will receive a $250 donation to the non-profit of her choice. Raina has chosen the 2025 Russell High School Internship Program as the recipient. Mayor Jim Cross and KRSL/KZRS Russell Radio General Manager Mike McKenna presented Raina with a $250 check for the 2025 Russell High School Internship Program at the January 21 city council meeting.
