THOMAS COUNTY—Two people were injured in an accident just after 2:30p.m. Tuesday in Thomas County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Mazda 3 driven by Werner Haas, 92, Columbus, Ohio, was parked at the intersection of U.S. 83 and Interstate 70 westbound Exit 70 off ramp.
A 2013 Kenworth semi driven by Bruce L Vankooten, 67, Prairie View, was northbound on U.S. 83 five miles north of Oakley. Haas failed to yield and the Mazda struck the semi.
EMS transported Haas and a passenger Haas, Isolde T. Haas, 92, Columbus, to the Logan County Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Vankooten was not injured. All three were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
