Barbara Sue (Peters) Lomax

Barbara Sue (Peters) Lomax, 78, Osborne, was born September 17, 1943,  in Downs, Kansas, to Preston and Evelyn Peters. She passed away Friday,  April 1, 2022, at the Osborne County Memorial Hospital in Osborne, Kansas. 

Barbara graduated from Downs High School in 1961 and then moved to Salina to attend Academy of Hair Design. She spent years as a cosmetologist where she enjoyed conversation with her clientele. Barbara also spent years caring for people in the nursing home and hospital in Osborne as a CNA/CMA and also served as a para- professional at the high school and grade school in Osborne.  She married her husband John Lomax April 22, 1967, in Beloit, Kansas. John and Barbara lived in both Cawker City and Osborne where they raised their children. 

Barbara enjoyed “cruising” around in Osborne and the surrounding area, gardening, discussing politics, playing cards and games, and spending time with family, friends, and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her laugh, her sense of humor, and stubborn, yet passionate soul. 

She is survived by her husband, John Lomax of the home; daughter, Shan Holloway and husband Brian, of Osborne; daughter, Gina Smith and husband Chris, of Ellis; son, Rhett Lomax of Osborne; grandson, Tracy Holloway and wife Lacey of Osborne; grandson, Shaylon Holloway and Alisha, Grace and Gabe Smith of Downs; and grandson, Easton Smith, of Omaha, Nebraska; and two great grandchildren, Donovan and Dixon Holloway of Osborne.  Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia Centlivre.  

At Barbara's request a graveside memorial will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to Solomon Valley hospice.
