Sally Rae Irvin

Sally Rae Irvin, 62, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021, at her home in McCracken, Kansas.

Sally was born December 28, 1958, in La Crosse, Kansas, the daughter of Harley and Marjorie (Norlin) Irvin. She was a lifelong resident of Rush and Ness County, Kansas. She was a 1976 graduate of McCracken High School and received her master’s degree in mathematics from Fort Hays State University. She was an online math teacher for multiple universities and colleges. She had a passion for math and was always looking for new ways to help students understand.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Daughters of American Revolution, all of McCracken. She was an active youth in 4-H. Sally was a lover of cats and always had pet cats who were well cared for.

Survivors include: one brother, John (Sharon) Irvin, McCracken; one sister, Vicky Overley, Antonino, Kansas; and one brother-in-law, Dennis Walker, Amarillo, Texas. She is also survived by nephews and nieces. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Susan Walker; and sister and brother-in-law, Penny and Tom Betz.

The family will have a memorial service in the future. 

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the McCracken Historical Museum or the McCracken Fire Department.
