Carol Ann (Miller) Trice passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
Carol was born on November 8, 1951, in Hoxie, Kansas, to Virgil O. Miller and Pearl (Brown) Miller. She was one of six children and was raised in Hoxie, where she attended school and made many lifelong friendships.
On November 17, Carol married Skip Trice. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with three children: Johnny, Rusti, and Tina. Carol found her greatest joy in her family and devoted herself to caring for and supporting those she loved.
Carol spent most of her career working as a waitress at The Sheridan Inn, The Deep Rock in Colby and the dietary department at the hospital, a profession at which she truly excelled. Her warm smile, outgoing personality, and genuine kindness made her a favorite among her customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued. Carol was a hard worker.
When Carol wasn’t working, she enjoyed playing Bingo, listening to Elvis Presley music, and sharing stories. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. One of her favorite treats was a cold glass of Lemonade or enjoying Mexican food with a margarita, creating cherished memories with those she loved. Carol also loved the companionship of her cat Tippy.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil O. and Pearl (Brown) Miller; her husband, Skip Trice; her children, Johnny Trice and Rusti Trice; her brothers, Virgil O. Miller Jr., Earl Miller, and Phillip Miller; and her sisters, Louise Craft and Lucy Martin.
Left to cherish Carol’s memory are her daughter, Tina Louise Cunningham Trice of WaKeeney, Kansas; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and lots of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A Graveside Service is planned for Friday, August 21, 2026, 10:00 AM, at the Hoxie City Cemetery, Hoxie, Kansas. Following the graveside service, the family invites relatives and friends to gather at the Hoxie Scout House for lunch and a time of sharing stories. and memories in celebration of Carol’s life. They suggest memorials to the Carol A. Trice Memorial Fund in care of Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, PO Box 987, Hoxie, Kansas 67740.
Carol will be remembered for her loving heart, friendly spirit, infectious smile, and the joy she brought to everyone she met. Her kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family will never be forgotten. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
