Marjorie Dawn 'Margie' Knoll, 78, Hays, died Monday, September 22, 2025 at HaysMed.

She was born September 15, 1947 in Hoxie, the daughter and youngest of five children of Roland Henry and Esther Amelia Martha (Schlicher) Weber.  She graduated from Hoxie High School in 1965 then attended Fort Hays State University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in German and Library Science and a certification in French.  On July 6, 1969 she was united in marriage to Leo B. Knoll, Jr. in Hoxie, and they celebrated 56 years of marriage.  Margie taught German at Hays High School until her twin children were born, then she stayed home to raise her family.  She later worked ten years for the Division of Employment, then was a Senior Administrative Assistant at FHSU, retiring in 2017.

Margie was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women’s Mission League, and the Aid Association for Lutherans, serving as the volunteer training specialist and secretary for the local branch training.  She was a loving wife and mother, enjoyed creating various crafts, was an amazing cook, and was known for her baked goods, especially her sugar cookies and cakes.

Survivors include her husband Leo of Hays, her children Karl Knoll of Independence, Missouri and Katrina Woelk and husband Daron of Russell, three grandchildren, Chase Woelk (Carley), Aubrey Larson, and Bryant Woelk (Darian), three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.      

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Mike and Robert Lee Weber, and two sisters, Patricia Weber and Sharon Waters.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Allen Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Thursday at Hays Memorial Chapel and from 9:00 am until service time on Friday at the church.  Memorials are suggested to Messiah Lutheran Church.  Condolences and memories of Marjorie may be shared with her family at www.haysmemorial.com
