Along with severe thunderstorm warnings issued by the National Weather Service in Dodge City, Hays received a little more than an inch of rain Friday evening.
According to the official report from the K-State Agricultural Research Center, 1.09 inches of rain fell in Hays. Hail also fell for about 20 minutes beginning at 8 p.m., ranging from pea to marble-size.
It had been a relatively dry month so far.
As 8 a.m., Hays has measured 2.64 inches of moisture during May; the average amount for the entire month is 3.31 inches.
Hays remains ahead in total moisture received so far this year with 9.80 inches. The 152-year cumulative average is 7.92 inches by the end of May.
It's a rainy weather forecast ahead, with storms predicted through Monday.
